Welcome Christmas...

Monday, November 30, 2009

Well, it's official...the Christmas season doesn't begin for me until I watch Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas and it's on tonight, so let the Christmas season begin! It's hard to believe that this beloved cartoon came out 43 years ago in 1966 (the book in 1957) and introduced the world to some of the best characters ever...the Grinch, Cindy Lou Who, the town of Whoville, the roast beast and let's not forget my favorite character...mr. cutie pie, Max the dog up there!!! This truly is my favorite Christmas story and I have adored it since I can remember breathing.

So, depending on if you're a grinch whose heart has grown three sizes that day or if you're as cuddly as a cactus and as charming as an eel..."Welcome Christmas while we stand, heart to heart, and hand in hand" or "The three words that best describe you, are, and I quote: "Stink. Stank. Stunk". Regardless of which grinch you are, let's remember the moral of the story...

"Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas... perhaps... means a little bit more!"

Four Glorious Days...

A four day weekend should be required at least every other week. :) It was SO nice having time to actually breathe and get things done this weekend. It was also nice to relax, cook and spend time with the hubby and my three adorable kitties. My crazy fall school term is almost over (two weeks to go and I only had to sneak in one of my final exams over the weekend) and then I get a beautiful three week break. Ahhhhh. I learned my lesson this past term and I'm taking one less class in winter because I completely overloaded my current schedule (staying up doing homework every night until 1-2am = no fun) ...and this girl needs a little fun. ;)

So, I hope everyone got to enjoy a wonderfully long holiday weekend full of family, fun, good food and some much needed rest and relaxation. I know I did...and I'm anxiously awaiting the next one!

My Thankful Heart...

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

I am so grateful this Thanksgiving for so many things...my wonderful husband and my beautiful cats who truly are my family, heart, and soul. my health, my quiet mind, warmth, love that comes from many different places, breath, life, my home in the gorgeous pacific northwest, the lessons I learn every single day, awareness, ability, the gifts of opportunity and education we've been given this year, nature, time, the moments that will forever remain still in my heart, the moments here and now, and the moments yet to come. Thank you.

Have a Beautiful, Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

A little quiet in the midst of what seemingly appears to be currently chaotic...

Girl About Town...

Saturday, November 7, 2009

Ok, now I simply adore Seattle a little bit more. See, when I said this trip was a little bit business and a little bit pleasure I forgot to mention that it was my hubby who gets to deal with the business and I get all the pleasure. Tomorrow we will explore Seattle together and celebrate his birthday, but today the poor guy has to sit in a CEU class all day and little ol' me gets to hit the town of Seattle! Now, I'm supposed to be doing homework, but it's a little tough considering my surroundings, don't you think? ;)

If you ever get the chance to stay in downtown Seattle, I highly recommend The Westin Hotel. I mean, just look at the view and the picture doesn't even do it justice. When you're standing at the window you can see for a million miles in all directions and the window is much wider than it looks in the pic. So, I'm here by my lonesome (yeah, I know...poor me right?) on the 26th floor with a panoramic view of the city and the waterfront...pretty amazing! Not to mention I'm in walking distance of Pike Place Market and just about everything else downtown. Can you tell I'm a bit excited?

Ok, enough rambling...it's time for this girl to hit the town! Watch out Seattle!

Simply Seattle...

Friday, November 6, 2009

There is something about Seattle that I simply adore...and we're headed there this weekend. Not only is it beautiful...green and lush, mountains, water, city, but Seattle has something special...full of art and character. I can't wait to be there this time of year when the leaves have fallen and there's a chill in the air.

Even though this trip is a little bit business and a little bit pleasure, I still couldn't be happier. With all the pressures of school and opening a business, this will be a beautiful escape. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend...

The Colors of Imagination...

Monday, November 2, 2009

Welcome to November...
What inspires your imagination?

Here are a few things that inspire mine:

rainy days
love
evergreens
the ocean
fog
music
a chill in the air
laughter
cemeteries
moss
a creak in the floor
the moon
tears
old creepy houses
the wind
...and long roads to nowhere

just to name a few
